Olvera’s Bar B-Q began in the 80’s by Paul and Esther Olvera. However back then, it was a one of a kind Mexican Restaurant on Bay Road in Saginaw. Some may have known it as Casa Del Rey.
In 1986, Paul, along with his son Dave ventured out into the unknown world of Bar B-Q competitions, which took them all over the United States and Canada.
Paul and his Texas Pit, both born in Austin, Texas brought the “Authentic Frontier Taste” of real bar b-q to the unfamiliar territory of the North. With his sauce, rib rub and his “Special Beef” perfected, Paul and his son Dave took to the road.
Sixty Awards later, Dave took over the bar b-q business in the early 2000’s cooking in local parking lots, festivals, and in 2014, with the grace of God, opened Olvera’s Texas Pit Bar B-Q.
All of our Bar B-Q is smoked with Oak and Applewood for two to twenty four hours, which inspires our motto – “Authentic Frontier Taste.”
